Product Description

PIVM, Type 1 2 / Class I II / Class B C Surge Arresters are in accordance to EN 61643-11 and IEC 61643-1. Base part and pluggable module are two major parts of this device. These lightning + surge arresters type 1+2 and class I+II can be used effectively in the Lightning Protection Zones Concept at the LPZ 0-2 boundaries (as per the IEC 1312-1 and EN 62305) for equipotential bonding as well as reduction of transient over-voltage that occurs at the time of atmospheric discharges or switching processes. In the TNS and TT systems, PIVM can be used along with B25M. Buyers can turn to PIVM surge arresters, given to their safety and user-friendly features. These perform well because of the characteristics, like Thermal Disconnecting Control monitoring device, reliable protective circuit and heavy-duty zinc oxide varistors.

Proper and strong fixing to the base par is ensured by the pluggable modules, which are not loosen by vibration during transport or significant electromagnetic forces of discharge. There is no requirement of any tools during replacement, as the protection modules can be simply pulled out.

The green and red indicator flags display the functioning of all  protective circuits and varistors. Type 1 2 / Class I II / Class B C Surge Arresters also feature a three-pole remote signaling terminals (Potential Free Contact), with a floating changeover contact. It is possible to make or break contact with the use of remote signal based on the circuit concept.

Advanced Surge Protection for LV Systems

This surge arrester excels in commercial and industrial applications, offering high discharge capacity, fast response, and a robust design. Suitable for single or three-phase systems, it protects vital infrastructure from damaging overvoltages caused by lightning or switching events. Modular construction ensures simple integration into standard DIN rail distribution boards.

Convenient Maintenance and Integration

Designed with replaceability in mind, the pluggable module allows swift servicing, minimizing downtime. An LED status indicator provides instant operational feedback, while optional remote signaling enhances monitoring capabilities. The devices compatibility with screw terminals and 14 pole configurations ensures flexibility in a broad range of installations.

FAQs of Type 1 2 Class I II Class B C Surge Arresters:

Q: How should a Type 1+2 / Class I+II surge arrester be installed in an LV distribution board?

A: Installation requires mounting the surge arrester onto a standard DIN rail within the LV distribution board. Secure the device with screw terminals, making sure to follow wiring guidelines for single or three-phase systems. A back-up fuse of 125 A is recommended for safety and compliance.

Q: What protection benefits do these Class B+C surge arresters offer in industrial and commercial buildings?

A: They guard electrical systems against transient overvoltages from lightning or switching events, limiting the voltage to under 1.5 kV. This protects equipment, minimizes downtime, and enhances overall reliability for both industrial and commercial facilities.

Q: When should the pluggable module of the surge arrester be replaced?

A: The pluggable module should be replaced after an end-of-life indication is shown by the LED status indicator or upon completion of its rated endurance, which is over 10,000 impulses, ensuring ongoing protection without replacing the entire unit.

Q: Where can remote signaling options be utilized with these surge arresters?

A: Optional remote signaling contacts can be integrated into building management or monitoring systems. This allows facility managers to receive instant alerts about device status from remote locations, enhancing oversight and maintenance efficiency.

Q: What makes the surge arrester suitable for harsh operating environments?

A: With an operating temperature range from -40C to +80C, IP20 protection, flame-retardant polycarbonate casing, and compliance with RoHS/REACH, the unit is engineered for durability and safe operation even under demanding conditions.

Q: How does the surge arrester ensure environmental and operational compliance?

A: The device complies with IEC 61643-11 and EN 61643-11 standards for surge protective devices. Additionally, it meets stringent environmental regulations (RoHS/REACH) and maintains high efficiency with low energy consumption, supporting sustainable infrastructure.
